Beating the Blues™ is a treatment option for all people seen with mild or moderate depression. Please click the 'Take me to Beating the Blues™' button located at the right of the page to enter the programme.

Basic computer use and troubleshooting

  • You cannot ‘break’ the computer just by using the keyboard or mouse.
  • You will have plenty of time to answer the questions.
  • Don’t worry about giving a “wrong” answer. If it is really important, the programme will give you an opportunity to review it later.
  • Spelling and grammar are not important. No one will see what you have typed, and it is only for your own printouts at the end of each session.

For detailed instructions please refer to your equipment user manual or IT support provider.

Printers

Problem: No print outs from Beating the Blues

  • Is the paper loaded?
  • Is a warning light flashing on the front of the printer?
    • Print a self test page by pressing and releasing the large button located on the front of the printer while the printer is in ready status (single green light lit on front panel).
    • Send a print job from the Beating the Blues® administration module to your printer. This verifies the software installation and communication to your printer.
    • Press the start button, choose settings and then choose printers.

Problem: Paper jam in printer
Occasionally paper can become jammed while printing. The list below outlines some possible causes:

  • The paper was loaded incorrectly.
  • The paper output lever was adjusted while a job was printing. (This lever controls where the paper exits from the printer, top or front).
  • The printer door was opened while a job was printing.

i. Paper input tray areas
Pull the paper from the input tray side until it is fully removed.

ii. Paper output paths
If the page is sticking out of the paper output path (where the paper exits the printer) pull it until it is fully removed.

NOTE: Loose toner may remain in the printer after a paper jam. This will clear after a few sheets have been printed.

iii. Removing torn pieces of paper from the printer
A piece of jammed paper can tear while being removed. Use the following procedure to remove any small pieces of paper left in the printer.

    • Make sure the toner cartridge is installed and the printer door is closed.
    • Turn the printer off and then back on. As the printer restarts, the rollers will advance the pieces of paper
